The Ministry of Regional Development, Forestry and Water Management, Hunting Department, organized a meeting for the representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Department for Nature Protection, Ministry of Regional Development, Forestry and Water Management, Hunting Department, Hunting Associations, Lonjsko polje Nature Park Public Service and for the experts of the Croatian Department of Ornithology (List of participants) to involve in monitoring and counting the waterfalls in Lonjsko Polje Nature Park area.

By the Ministry of Culture's Decision for Nature Protection Conditions in 2005, bird hunting in protected areas is forbidden (accept pheasant). Although, Hunting Department initialized the monitoring of birds species (hunting plumed deer) in Lonjsko Polje Nature Park.
The main objective of this monitoring is to estimate the number of hunting and protected bird species. Estimated number of waterfalls will be the base for estimation of the individual number for kill. Anyway, this monitoring will show if the bird hunting in protected area will be permitted or not. The monitoring will be at least three years in co-operation with the experts of Croatian Department for Ornithology and Lonjsko Polje Nature Park Public Service. Also, the representatives of Hunting Associations and Ministries will participate at this activity.

Conclusions:

1. two bird classes will be monitored – hunted and protected bird species
2. six time per year (April, May, August, September, October, January)
3. three zones
   • Eastern Park – fishpond Vrbovljani, Sava River to Jasenovca, Strug River, Mokro polje, Poganovo polje
   • Middle Park – fishpond Lipovljani, Krapje Đol, Pakra River, Sava River from Jasenovac to Trebež, oxbows Puska
   • Western Park – OR Rakita, oxbows Tišina, Mužilovčica, Suvoj, Sava River from Trebež to Čigoč, Lonjsko polje, Gračenica polje, Repušnica polje, Osekovo polje, Lonja River, Trebež River
